Old Brown Java

Just in. This low acidity, musky, earthy dark roasted coffee is  both sweet and bold. It originates from the east coast of Java, where it is grown on the old colonial estates that dot that part of the island. It was traditionally used as ballast in the wooden sailing ships that crossed from East to West in the seventeenth century. The coffee beans changing from green to brown during their travels, giving them a musty tobacco flavour.

Nowadays the beans are aged underground for at least three years before they can be classed as Old Brown Java.

This coffee is best enjoyed from the sixth day after roasting.

Old Brown Java is a variety of coffee beans that originates from the east coast of the island. It is stored underground after harvesting for at least three years. This particular batch has been stored for 6 years giving it a very low acidity.

It is a strong tasting coffee with a distinct tobacco flavour. It has a smooth finish that leaves a musty tobacco hint on the palate.
